The Wedding of Grace Gifford and Joseph Plunkett (26-4-2017)
We are learning about Kilmainham jail at the moment in History and one of the saddest marrriages ever took place there in May of 1916. Grace Gifford married Joseph Mary Plunkett in the early hours of the morning by candle light. Hours later he was shot by firing squad because he was one of the military council of the I.R.B who had planned the Easter Rising of 1916. We got into groups and we re-enacted the wedding and Grace buying the rings in Stoke's jewellery shop on Grafton Street. Our drama helps us to develop empathy.
