On Thursday 17th of May a group of 28 girls from Newcastle
went to New Inn to represent the school in the 13-a-side
camogie competition 2018.The team were drawn in a tough
group but did very well. In our first match we played our local
rivals Lisheenkyle and played very well. We managed to beat
them without conceding a single score. Our next match was
against Cregmore, which we won, again without conceding
anything. Our third match was against Maree in which we
played very good and beat them, only conceding 1 goal.
After this we had a break and prepared to play in what we
knew would be a very difficult match against New Inn. They
had also won all their matches so it was going to be a tight
match. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to beat them but did
the school proud. The team would like to say a big thank you
to Mr. O’Connor, who prepared them so well for the
competition.
