A Special Visitor
Goodbye to Noreen
We were all very sad when Noreen’s time in our class came to an end. She received lots of cards, including an extra special Sponge Bob card. Mr O’Connor called in to present her with a card from her friends on the staff.
Green Schools Conference
2nd and 3rd classes recently took part in an online
Green Schools Travel Conference. There were lots of interesting speakers. Aaron
Copeland spoke about children taking back cities and making sure that they were
designed with children rather than cars in mind.
We also took part in an online activity where we made our own
city. On one side there was a sustainable city with trees, solar panels and
cycle lanes. On the other city there was overcrowding, pollution and traffic
jams. It was easy to choose which side we would like to see by 2040.
Science Week in St. Oliver Plunkett NS
Halloween
This year for Halloween we couldn't have our usual parade and disco. Instead each class paraded around the school, one at a time, to show off their costumes to all the other classes. Mr. O'Connor provided the background music and even the weather helped by staying dry for our Halloween Parade.
Newcastle News Updates
The astro turf has arrived on site and we are awaiting the fitters eagerly. We cant wait to play on our fantastic new astro.

Covid supports for Parents
Norma Foley, Minister for Education has asked that each parent receives the following, important information from the Department and the HSE with regard to returning to school.
Links to each of these are in the attached document, so that it is as easy as possible for you to send on the relevant items to your school community:
• Video for parents with key information on supporting children to return to school available here and here
• Fliers for parents – these are attached in this email but are also available for download here.
The HSE has prepared material on recognising symptoms, which complements the material from the Department on returning to school. This is available here
• Age-appropriate videos for children and young people at different stages. Videos for primary (both junior and senior level) and post-primary students are available here
• Resources in a wide range of languages. Many schools will enjoy a huge diversity among their student and parent community. To support these parents, we have translated guidance for parents at gov.ie/backtoschool.
