Cora
Staunton visited Newcastle with vouchers for all the members of fourth class. They
each received a 70 euro voucher for Sketchers shoes. Gary Hanrahan entered a
competition before Christmas naming Cora his favourite women’s GAA player. His
entry was picked out and he won the vouchers as well as a training session with
Cora. Cora spoke to all the class at a special assembly, she told us about her
sporting life and how she became the fantastic athlete that she is. She
highlighted the importance of training hard, eating the right foods, and
drinking water. She was won countless awards throughout her sporting career,
yet she said the best things about sports are the friendships that are made.
She then presented the members of fourth-class with their voucher and took the
class for a blood pumping football training. They really enjoyed it and we really
appreciate her coming to visit us in Newcastle. Thanks also to Aoife Lane {president
of the WGPA} who organised the presentation of the prizes.
