The
girls' mini 7's competition was played in Coolarne on Wednesday the 28th. It
was very poor weather conditions, we were drawn in a group of four including
Monivea, Lisheenkyle, Cranaun and ourselves. In our first game we played
Carnaun and hurled very well and won on a score line of 4-2 to 2 goals. We next
played Monivea, we led at half time by 5 goals to 1 but Monivea rallied in the
second half and the game finished on a score line of 6 goals to 5 in favour of
Monivea. In the final game we were back to form and defeated Lisheenkyle.
Monivea went on to win the competition and will play in the finals. Well done
to all of the Newcastle girls, they were fantastic. Thanks very much to the
parents who helped out with lifts and were there supporting on the day.
Galway Athletics
Well done to all the boys and girls who ran in the semi-finals of the county athletics in Renville on the 20/9/16. They trained hard for the race and should be very proud of how well they did. A special thanks to Mary Rohan for helping in the training and all the parents who helped out on the day in the event. Thanks also to Mrs. Treacy for taking us to the competition.
