Abbey Actors Bring "Me Mollser" to Newcastle.

Thank you to Alicia and Jay who came to Newcastle today to introduce us to Seán O' Casey's famous play "The Plough And The Stars". Alicia played the part of Molly Gogan, more commonly known as Mollser. She told us her story. She lived in a tenement building in North Dublin. She got T.B and she died. Her father, Jimmy Gogan died of T.B also. Life is very harsh for Mollser and her family and because of Alicia's wonderful acting skills, We really felt empathy with Mollser and her plight.

Jay came to talk to us in the class first to prepare us for the play.

Mollser Gogan captivated us with her amazing acting talent.

She used the boxes to represent her tenement building.

Mollser lived on the top floor with her family.

Mollser had no shoes on. Shoes were a luxury.

Jay compared our lovely clothes with the rags that were worn by the children in the tenements.

We looked at photos of Dublin 100 years ago.

The boxes contain objects belonging to Mollser and the objects revealed a lot about living conditions in the tenement building. There was a feather, a tie, a book, a ruler and a doll. The doll was buried at the end of the play and that is when we realised that Mollser was dead. We felt great sympathy towards her.

Infants trip to the Teddy Bear Hospital

We had a super time in Galway today. We brought our sick teddies to the teddy bear hospital. We met the doctors and nurses and they helped our teddies. We took them for X-rays and MRI scans. After the hospital visit we went to the playground. We had such a great day. Thank you to all the parent helpers today.
