OUR BIG CLEAN UP DAY!

For our Active School Flag and while also working with the Athenry Tidy Town volunteers, yesterday 3rd to 6th classes took part in our first ever,
 BIG CLEAN UP DAY!

At 11:30 all classes got their coats, high visibility vests and rubber gloves on. Off we went outside to start tidying around the school with Celia, Helen and Pat from the Tidy Towns committee, who kindly joined us.

The 3rd & 4th class went out to the school garden & carpark,  4th & 5th class went to Templemoyle & 6th class tidied from the school down to the pitch.

A few of the more 'interesting' items found, were socks, tic tacs, bird feathers, a wheel, wet tissue & a t-shirt.

A very big "THANK YOU" to all teachers & staff members for their help in making the day such a success.

Míle buíochas to Celia, Helen, Pat for taking time out of their day to help us.
It was very kind of you to join us.

Thanks to Sharon from the Athenry News & Views who came to take photos while we were busy making our school a nicer place to learn and play in.

Thanks also to Gabe Cronnelly for providing bags, pickers and gloves for us.

We hope to repeat today's success again before the school year finishes and I'm sure you'll agree that both our school and our community is looking much tidier today after all of our efforts!

4th & 5th class couldn't wait to get going!

Mrs Treacy and her gang heading for the pitch. No piece of litter was safe today!

3rd & 4th class couldn't wait to stuck in and use our pickers!

Smiles all 'round from the 6th class ladies.

Celia and her group of workers hard at it.

Even the leaves got swiped up by this happy pair!

Happiest workers ever.

Hi! Ho! Hi! Ho! It's off to work we go...

Newcastle v Lackagh (13th-2nd-2015)

We were blessed with the weather when the boys from Lackagh school came to play us in a challenge game of hurling. We all played our hearts out and we really enjoyed the game. Thank you to Mr O'Connor for organising the game and for doing the league with us at school as this has really improved our hurling skills. Thank you to the parents who came along to support the lads.

Thank you to Mr O'Connor.

Action shot!

Come on Newcastle!

I played a mighty game of hurling.

Ms Treacy brought 4th, 5th and 6th class along to support our boys.

Ms Murphy came to support the Newcastle team.

I ran the legs off myself in the match!

I'm in the ready position!

Well played lads!

Mr O' Connor and the Newcastle squad.

Well done lads.
