Science Show - 17th November 2104

We had a real treat to start our week this morning when Gerry the Mad Scientist came to Newcastle. We really enjoyed the show. He made Science fun for us all. He visited the school as part of Science Week. Thank you Gerry and a big thank you to all of the volunteers from the audience who participated in the show.

He put 3 separate ribbons in the hat.

Out came the Irish flag!. Wowsers!

The audience!

We all want to take part in the show.

We did an experiment on air pressure.

Tug of War!

Oops!

The white cup on the ground is called Cupán.

I squashed the cup on my own!

The girls made a circle of cups around the Mad Scientist.

We put a heavy wooden board on the circle of cups.

I did Irish dancing on the cups and they did not break!

I blew 10 big breaths into the plastic bag. It was hard work!I didn't manage to trap much air!

I blew one breath and caught much more air than the 6th class boy! The Mad Scientist left the bag open for me and air went in all on its own!

I used a hair dryer to keep a ping pong ball in the air.

The hair dryer wasn't strong enough o hold up the big ball.

We had to use a leaf blower!

I had to announce that the flight was due in Kiltullagh!

We rolled the toilet paper around.

Watch the toilet paper fly!

7 lucky volunteers got a spin on a hovercraft! Lucky ducks!

Whee!

This is fun!

It's my birthday today and I got a spin on the hovercraft. Everyone in 3rd to 6th class sang "Happy Birthday" to me!
